The Astec® EarthPro™ Series DD1416 horizontal directional drill from Astec Underground offers innovative features plenty of drilling power in a compact size for use among obstacles such as existing landscape and buildings.
The DD1416 offers 14,000 lbs of thrust/pullback with up to 1,600 ft-lbs of rotary torque with maximum rotary speed of 200 rpm. The drill weighs 8,500 lbs. (3,855 kg) fully loaded and is 51.5 inches (1.28) wide.
Powered by a 65-horsepower Cummins B3.3C diesel engine, it features an onboard mud pump that pumps 15 gallons per minute at 1250 psi. This drill has the field-proven dual rack-and-pinion carriage drive that has made American Augers’ the market leader. The floating carriage has two speeds, including a 120 ft/min fast mode.
The DD1416 uses 10-foot drill stem and can carry up to 400 feet of pipe. The pipe greaser and state-of-the-art rod loader are standard, as are the floating open-top vise wrenches.
The ergonomic operators’ station includes microprocessor-controlled electronic readout for all functions. The patented Es!Lok system is integrated into the drill controls, and there is an additional strike alert system for added safety. |
